The Mutant Slime Pit is one of the strangest and most memorable playsets Mattel produced for the Masters of the Universe 200X relaunch. Released in 2003, this set puts Skeletor's grotesque creature-forge right on your shelf — a bubbling throne-side pit where the Lord of Destruction brews fresh horrors to throw at He-Man and the Heroic Warriors.
The gimmick is pure 1980s gross-out, updated with Four Horsemen detailing. The exclusive Mutant Warrior figure included with the set has an openable body cavity packed with removable "mutant guts." Load the guts, pour in the slime, and the slime becomes the creature's blood — squeeze the Mutant Warrior and the whole thing oozes back out. It's a direct spiritual descendant of the legendary 1986 Slime Pit, which belonged to Hordak; in the 2002 animated series the pit was handed to Skeletor, who used it in the episode "Out of the Past" to spawn his Mutant Slime Monsters.
The Mutant Warrior figure is exclusive to this playset and was never released on a single card, which makes a sealed Slime Pit the only clean way to add him to a 200X collection.
